Board OKs academy's move to Saguaro
Copper Ridge Math and Science Academy is officially moving to Saguaro High School, 6250 N. 82nd St., this fall.
The Scottsdale Unified School District governing board voted 3-1 to move the academy, which opened in fall 2006 as a math and science magnet program designed primarily to serve students in the northern part of the district.
But the school has had low enrollment and high teacher turnover. The district has said it has been difficult to hire teachers for the small program without having all the resources in a comprehensive high school.
The school will serve ninth- through 11th-grade students this fall.
Board member Molly Holzer cast the dissenting vote.
