'Parking Patty,' police aide, dies

The Scottsdale Police Department has lost one of its most familiar faces and fixtures.

Patricia Sue Schulz, a parking control checker in downtown Scottsdale known as "Parking Patty," died Friday, according to the Scottsdale Police Department. She was 75.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Schulz began her career with Scottsdale police in 1990 as a parking control checker and was well-known among downtown business owners and regular shoppers.

Schulz is survived by her children, Timothy Schulz, Priscilla Torres Steffen and Aleta Reynolds; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service for Schulz will be at 10 a.m.today at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale.
