Believe it or not, but state tournaments for the fall season are just around the corner and the winter sports teams begin practice the last week of this month.
The individual state badminton tournament is Oct. 12-13 at Independence High and the team tournament is Oct. 15, 17 and 18 at Sunnyslope High for the finals.
The girls state golf tournaments is Oct. 26-27 with the boys event Oct. 29-30 at Aguila Golf Course.
The girls volleyball tournament begins with first-round action on Oct. 30.
Football’s first round of playoffs are Nov. 2.
State swimming is Nov. 2-3 at Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa.
Cross country is Nov. 3 at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix.
