Arizona’s Original Scream Park

What: A “Monster Midway” of vendors anchors four attractions at this perennial haunt: 3-D Fear Factory, Castle of Darkness, Goldminer’s Revenge and — new this year — Horror High. There’s also a “Last Ride” coffin experience.

When: 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays Sept. 23 to Oct. 29; 7 to 11 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays Oct. 6 to Oct. 30; and open nightly Oct. 20 to Oct. 31.

Where: 8823 E. McDowell Road, Scottsdale

Cost: $22 for two haunted attractions, $27 for an all-access pass to four haunted attractions; $6 to park

Information: (480) 444-2590 or www.azscreampark.com

Dark Scares

What: Two PG-13 haunted houses have differing themes: House 666 on the Lane is an abandoned home where countless accidents and disappearances have occurred. At Le Carnaval des Non Morts, a band of soulless, blood-thirsty heathens of European legend have returned to wreak havoc.

When: 7 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 to 10 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 1 to 30. Also open 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 31.

Where: Next to Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill at Mesa Riverview, 1061 N. Dobson Road

Cost: $15, includes both attractions

Information: (480) 452-2783 or http://darkscares.com

The Gauntlet and Spooktacular Mini-Golf

What: Individuals infected with a horrific virus have been quarantined in Mesa. That’s the made-up story behind The Gauntlet, a multi-level haunted house where participants must crawl and climb over objects and stairs to escape. If you’re in the mood for something less scary — or less athletic — Golfland’s adjacent 18-hole miniature golf course sports a spooky theme.

When: Dates and hours vary Sept. 30 through Oct. 31; call or visit Golfland’s website for details.

Where: Golfland-Sunsplash, 155 W. Hampton Ave., Mesa

Cost: $12 for haunted house admission. Mini-golf is $6.82 per child and $7.82 per adult. $29.95 Unlimited Fear and Fun Package includes haunted house, unlimited mini-golf and race cars.

Information: (480) 834-8319 or www.golflandfrightnights.com
