New chamber board charts course for ‘11

The Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce hopes to form its own non-profit group early next year to raise donations for community events such as feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving and for academic scholarships.

The chamber announced its new board of directors last week, and conducted a retreat on Friday to set priorities for the coming year.

"We're deciding some of the strategies we're going to pursue in 2011," said Terri Kimble, the chamber's president.

The new members are Chairman Harvey Gibson, Tempe Schools Credit Union; Vice-Chairwoman Karen Starbowski, MassMutual Financial Group; Recording Secretary Renie Scibona, Independent Newspapers publisher; Treasurer Patty Durant, Empire West Title Agency sales and marketing representative; Dan Creed, Focal Point Business Coaching of Arizona owner; Mark Deitchman, R.P Ryan Insurance; Christine Ellis, Sonoran Mountain Realty owner; Stephanie Fierro, Fierro Law owner; Dawna Gascoigne, The Lending Company; John Hetrick, Salt River Project principal analyst; Tim Hovik, San Tan Ford general manager; Larry Hughes, Sweet Endings; Jason Joseph, Ahwatukee Foothills News publisher; Norma McCormick, Clean ‘n Fresh Cleaning Services; Peter Menor, Catholic Healthcare West Urgent Care Ahwatukee; Aaron Merchant, Merchant Firearms owner; Martha Neese, Von Hanson Meats & Spirits owner; and Jeff Schenk, Edward Jones.
