Spent last night searching the web to find out how local products did or are doing this baseball season.

Here is what I found.

* Kevin Cron hit .208 in 192 at-bats with seven doubles and two home runs among his 40 hits with 20 RBIs in his sophomore year at Texas Christian.

It was a step back after being named two second-team freshman All-American squads after hitting the Mountain Pointe product hit .338 with six home runs with 34 RBIs.

* Scott Kingery had a solid freshman year as he played in 41 games and started 30 in the infield Arizona. The former Pride shortstop hit .261 (30 for 115) with five doubles, three triples, eight stolen bases and 18 RBIs.

* Joey Curletta is still in extended spring training with the Dodgers in preparation for this second in the Arizona Rookie League, which gets started toward the end of June.

The sixth-round pick out of Mountain Pointe from last year’s draft should be more comfortable this time after hitting .149 in 25 games last season with no home runs and six RBIs.

* Desert Vista product Hunter Rodriguez had to red-shirt his freshman year at Utah after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his left arm.

* Mountain Pointe product C.J. Cron continues to make good on the Angels' decision to take in the first round two years ago.

The slugging first baseman was hitting .318 (59 for 187) through the first 48 games for Double-A Arkansas, which is his first year at this level. He hd five home runs and 29 RBIs with a .360 on-base and a .847 OPS through Tuesday night.

* Oregon sophomore Shaun Chase helped the Ducks into this week’s regionals by hitting .221 (17 for 77) in 39 games, including 25 starts, with 10 runs, two home runs and five RBIs.
