Desert Vista graduate and Pepperdine in-coming freshman Cody McManus advanced to the Round of 16 in match play in the 87th U.S. Amateur Public Links Golf Championship at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah.
After defeating two match play opponents 1UP, McManus was eliminated 6&5 by Kyle Beversdorf of Plymouth, Minn., on Thursday.
McManus qualified for the match play portion after finishing tied for 21st with an even-par 142 after shooting 74-68 last Monday and Tuesday.
It was previously reported in the AFN that McManus was eliminated in the round of 64 because of a reporter’s error.
