The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has added 10 positions to its board of directors to help meet the demands of the organization’s ongoing growth, said AZHCC President & CEO Gonzalo de la Melena.

There are an estimated 60,000 Latino-owned businesses in Arizona and the community’s buying power has increased to nearly $38 billion statewide. The U.S. Census reports that Latinos are 30 percent of the state’s population, while experts estimate a majority of Arizonans will be Latino by 2035.

The new AZHCC board members are (alphabetically): Frank Canez, multicultural specialist for Fry’s Food Stores; Jaime Chon, vice president of operations, Pepsico/Frito Lay; Ed Escobedo, vice president/CIO, Apollo Group; Carlos J. Gonzalez, Loan Modification Executive, Bank of America; Julio Herrera, director of multicultural markets, Cox Communications; Steve Macias, co-owner and president/CEO of Pivot Manufacturing; Bettina Nava, partner, First Strategic, Communications & Public Affairs; Armando Roman, principal partner Axiom Finance and Advisory Group; Lisa Urias, president of Urias Communications; and Doug Yonko, vice president of communications, Hensley Beverage Company.
