About 800 people are expected to take part in the inaugural Friendship Walk, scheduled for Saturday, March 31, benefiting best Buddies Arizona.

The event is being held at Tempe’s Evelyn Hallman park.

Best Buddies Arizona prides itself on providing friendship and guidance to more than 2,000 Valley residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This walk represents the Best Buddies mission: friendship, acceptance, inclusion.

Those taking part in the walk – including hundreds of middle school, high school and college students who are part of 45 in-school Best Buddies chapters – have been working as teams to raise money for the cause.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 2-plus mile walk at 9 a.m.. After the walk, Best Buddies Arizona will hold its annual Chapter Awards, recognizing Best Buddy Pair, Most Inspirational, and others.
