Tempe Elementary School District has cancelled a public forum on closed school uses that was to take place Monday.

The "repurposing forum" at McKemy Middle School was cancelled because the Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) has withdrawn its plan to use part of the facility.

Last spring, the district closed McKemy, along with Bustoz and Meyer elementary schools because of low enrollment in the district. The public was invited to submit ideas to the district for the campuses.

Only one idea - from the Tempe Community Action Agency - was deemed a semifinalist.

At a study session Oct. 19, the governing board discussed having the superintendent work with district administration to come up with ideas for future uses of facilities.

More specific direction will be provided at the governing board meeting on Nov. 16.
