American Heart Association is launching a summer day camp in hopes of giving kids the skills they need to have a healthy heart their entire lives.
Camp Heartbeat, designed for children ages 6 to 12, will be held at the American Heart Association’s Halle Heart Children’s Museum in Tempe. There will be two, one-week sessions: July 16-20 and July 23-27.
Camp will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $250 per session. Space is limited, and a limited number of scholarships are available on a need-based, first-come, first-served basis to underserved children.
Each day will include drama, movement, music, puppetry, art, writing, reading, hands-on snack preparation and a heart-healthy lunch. The experience will teach practical skills that are easy for kids to incorporate into their daily lives, and it will build heart health awareness and increase confidence and self-esteem among the children.
