Got a craving for Aloo Tikka or Chicken Tikka Masala? Sign up for cooking school at Tempe's award-winning Dhaba Restaurant, 1872 E. Apache Blvd., to learn how to make your own Punjabi cuisine.

The five-week Dhaba Cooking Class, led by accomplished Indian chef Pallavi Lal, is held on Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. The next course begins Aug. 11 in The Dhaba Cafe, adjacent to The Dhaba restaurant, and is limited to 16 students.

According to a news release, the recipes shared in the class have been passed down from many generations of Indian families and integrated into The Dhaba menu. Chef Lal's students also learn the basics of the Indian kitchen, including traditional cookware and the spices regularly used, such as cinnamon, cloves, chilis, coriander and cumin.
