Tempe will hold a hazardous waste collection event Oct. 2 at Kiwanis Park, where residents can drop off batteries, paint, auto fluids, aerosol cans, insecticides, old tires and more.

Also, residents can bring documents for shredding and receive free compost.

The event is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., entering the park on All America Way just north of Guadalupe Road. It is open to Tempe residents only, and they must bring a utility bill or other proof of residency.

Tempe’s Household Products Collection Center will be closed for the event.
