A body spotted by joggers in the Tempe Canal earlier this month finally has been identified.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the cause of death for 59-year-old Bennie B. Spencer is pending the results of toxicology tests.
Joggers called 911 on Jan. 3 after seeing the body in the canal.
The partially decomposed body was pulled out of the canal by Mesa firefighters.
Sheriff's officials say there's no sign of foul play.
They say Spencer was identified through fingerprints and criminal records.
