You know about exercise. You've probably heard of Jazzercise. But what about Conductorcise?

On Sept. 20, area seniors at Friendship Village Tempe will take up their batons for an exercise session built around how to lead an orchestra through a piece of classical music.

Maestro David Dworkin, music director of the Vermont Youth Orchestra, will lead participants through a fitness program that includes insight into each composition and how it is performed. The special session at 11 a.m. in Skirm Auditorium is part of Friendship Village's Living Well initiative.

"Feeling good is all about learning new things, being active and invigorating your soul," marketing director Susan Vosdoganes said in a news release. "Conductorcise does all that, and we're so lucky to have it at Friendship Village."
