Two people were killed after an SUV rolled over on the Loop 101 Sunday night.
Department of Public safety officials said the accident happened on the southbound Loop 101 at the US 60 ramp around 4:15 p.m.
Crews said a white SUV carrying five people had a tire blow out causing it to roll over and eject four people from the vehicle.
The 59-year-old driver, John Gamero of Gilbert, was the only person not thrown from the car. His body had to be extricated from the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elana Stephenson, 15, of Chandler, was ejected from the SUV. She was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
The other passengers, 41-year-old Dina Martinez, 19-year-old Estavon Vasquez , and 15-year-old Leann Limbeck were all transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
Officials said they believe no one was wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened.
The ramps from the Loop 101 in both directions at the US 60 were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
