Dawn Oliphant was named Queen Creek vice mayor, a one-year term, by the Queen Creek Town Council Wednesday.
Responsibilities of the vice mayor include conducting meetings of the Town Council when the mayor is not present and representing the views of the mayor and town at official and ceremonial functions and in meetings with other agencies. Oliphant was nominated by the mayor from among the council members, and then confirmed in a vote by the mayor and council.
Oliphant moved to the town in 2005 and was first elected to the council in June 2010. Before serving with the town, she was employed by Tempe. Currently, she runs an environmentally “green” business. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Management and Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies and is a graduate of Queen Creek’s Citizen Leadership Institute.
