An 18-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was shot in the leg at San Tan Community Park late Saturday.

Deputies said bullets were fired at a group of several men who had been playing basketball, possibly from a southeasterly direction, after they stopped their game and were walking through the parking lot to their cars near San Tan Boulevard and Village Lane, according to Tim Gaffney, a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The injured man was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

Deputies discovered bullet casings from two different handguns, and the men who were fired upon said they did not see any of the shooters.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call (520) 866-5101.
