A Queen Creek man is hospitalized in critical condition being attacked by bees while he was mowing his lawn.

Rural Metro Fire Department officials say lawn mowers create loud noises and vibrations that sometimes disturb a bee hive.

The name of the man wasn't immediately released Thursday.

Witnesses say a housekeeper tried to help the man by hosing him down with water.

Fire crews used special foam to knock the aggressive bees off the man, who was then transported to a hospital.

The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/R5vfSt) says the area where the attack occurred is near an orchard and authorities say that may be the source of the bees.
