Garden show

The town of Queen Creek will start its annual Neighborhoods in Bloom program with a free garden show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Queen Creek Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. Various speakers will show residents how they can maintain a lush and beautiful yard through the use of low-water plants. In addition to demonstrations, there will be door prizes from area businesses.

Yoga class

If you're interested in learning about yoga or even if you're already a fan, Inner Peace Yoga, 24414 S. Ellsworth Road, will have free classes this week. On Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., there will be a session for those of all skill levels and from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday a beginners class will be held.

Advance registration is required to reserve a spot.

Computer instruction

The Queen Creek Branch Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road, is offering classes covering the basics of using Microsoft Word and e-mail. Learn how to use this powerful word-processing software to create resumés, papers and other dynamic documents.

Next, learn about the ins and outs of e-mail. This session will cover creating a free Web-based account, composing e-mails, attaching files and more.

The classes will run 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday. Advance registration is required to participate.

'Into the Woods'

Step into a fantasy world at the Queen Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, during presentations of the stage show "Into the Woods." This play combines characters from several famous fairy tales, including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and more for an exciting and magical time.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Full moon hike

Take advantage of the bright moonlight to witness the desert's beauty in a different way. This ranger-led walk is a great opportunity to learn about the park and its wildlife while hiking along the Stargazer Trail. Don't forget to bring water and a flashlight.

The hike is scheduled 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park, 6533 W. Phillips Road.

The event is free, but there is a $6-per-vehicle park entry fee.

Barrel racing

The Queen Creek Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road, will be hosting a three-day barrel racing event starting 8 a.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday. On Saturday, there will be a Wild West Show with trick roping, face painting, vendors and more.

Tickets are $10, $5 for children 3-12, with those 2 and younger admitted free.

Winter recreation classes

Are you looking to get the kids out of the house? Or perhaps you'd like to pick up a new skill yourself?
