Mesa man arrested in stabbing of ex-girlfriend

Mesa Police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend Saturday.

Xavier Vincent Nixon of Mesa was arrested and booked on attempted second- degree murder charges for the stabbing of a female victim at 1050 S. Longmore in Mesa.

Nixon was located by detectives in the 300 block of East Vine Saturday and was taken into custody.

According to police, Nixon and the 24-year-old victim were in an argument at the time of the stabbing. What the argument was about is unknown at this time.

The victim is still being treated for her injuries at a local hospital, police said.

Police were called about 1 a.m. Saturday to an apartment in the 1000 block of South Longmore Avenue in reference to a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim with multiple stab wounds. She was treated at the scene by the Mesa Fire/Medical Department and was later transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

The victim's name is not being released at this time.
