Mesa police have identified the woman shot to death late Sunday night at Grandview Street and Gilbert Road as 22-year-old Robin I. Blasnek. It is unknown whether the killing is tied to the Serial Shooter and no vehicles were seen in the area.
Neighbors told police they heard a single gunshot and called 911, said Mesa Sgt. Chuck Trapani.
Blasnek was found shot and lying on the roadway Sunday at 11:17 p.m.
A neighbor went outside to help the woman, who said she had been shot before she lost consciousness. She was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.
Trapani said they are still searching for leads and don’t have any suspects in the case.
The Mesa Police Department is hosting a personal safety community meeting this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Edison Elementary School gymnasium, 545 N. Horne in Mesa, to discuss the serial shootings. The meeting is open to the public.
