Freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation

ADOT recommends drivers allow extra time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:

Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) on and off-ramps at Hawes Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 22) for work related to State Route 24 construction. Detour: Consider using ramps at Power Road.

Northbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) closed between Glendale Avenue and Shea Boulevard 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday (April 21) for installation of ramp meters and traffic-flow equipment. Northbound SR 51 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard will remain open. Detour: Traffic will go west on Glendale Avenue, north on Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road and east on Cactus Road to reconnect with SR 51.

Eastbound Interstate 10 closed between the Interstate 17 ‘Stack’ interchange and Seventh Street from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Apr. 20) for tunnel maintenance. Detour: Drivers can use southbound Interstate 17 to reconnect with eastbound Interstate 10 near Sky Harbor Airport.

Grand Avenue (US 60) narrowed to one lane in both directions between 71st and 84th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 22) for pavement improvements. Seventy Fifth Avenue, 83rd Avenue and Peoria Avenue closed at times at Grand Avenue. Drivers can expect short delays and closures up to 20 minutes. Detour: Consider using 67th Avenue, Cotton Crossing or 91st Avenue.
