If you’re having trouble affording your prescription medications, just text the word “family” to 700700 to save up to 75 percent on the cost of your medicine. “It really is that easy,” said Mesa United Way President Dan Wollam.
When you get a free FamilyWize prescription discount card sent to your cell phone by text, just show the message to your pharmacist. The discount will automatically be applied to the cost of your medicine. And you can help everyone you know by forwarding the information.
You can also get a free FamilyWize card by visiting www.MesaUnitedWay.org and clicking on the link under “What’s New.”
“When one out of every four people in our community have trouble buying their medicine, we’re looking for all ways possible to make sure they get the free help provided by these cards,” said Wollam.
“Technology makes it possible for us to help a lot more people, much more quickly,” said Dan Barnes, chief executive and co-chair of FamilyWize. “It’s really incredible how cell phones, the Internet, Facebook and Twitter can make getting help so much easier and faster.”
The FamilyWize Community Partnership was established in 2005 to help people get the medicine they need. Today, more than 1,000 participating United Ways and other partner agencies across the country coordinate the local distribution of the free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards. By April 2012, the free FamilyWize cards had helped more than 4 million people save over $345 million.
