Mesa will once again honor America’s servicemen and women with a parade, 11 a.m. Monday in downtown.

The East Valley Veterans Parade will follow a path down Center Street and will include more than 100 entries, including military support groups, high school marching bands, scouts and more. The Military Veterans Parade Association renamed the event last year to recognize participants from neighboring communities.

The parade will kick off with a fly-over by the Commemorative Air Force’s B-17 and several other historic aircraft.

Several streets will be closed for the parade. Traffic will be detoured at Country Club Drive and at Mesa Drive to University and Broadway. All streets should reopen to traffic by 1 p.m.

Mesa city offices will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day. All administration offices, as well city libraries and recreation centers, the Arizona Museum for Youth and the Arizona Museum of Natural History, will reopen on Tuesday.

Trash and recycle barrels will be on the normal collection schedule. Residents should have their containers out no later than 6 a.m. All bus and light rail routes will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.
