Empire Southwest, LLC recently broke ground on a major new service facility on its Mesa, Arizona campus. The new building will house the Component Rebuild Center (CRC) shop and a significant portion of Empire’s product support operation. More than 50 new service and support employees will be added when the facility opens in 2014, and the company projects that up to 175 additional employees may be needed within six years.
The building, designed by Saemisch + DiBella Architects, Inc. of Mesa, will be erected just west of Empire’s existing parts warehouse in an area currently used for employee parking. CRC engine and power train component shops will occupy a combined space of nearly 90,000 square feet that will include 82 service bays, three dynomometers, a paint shop and employee break and locker rooms. A two-story, 25,000-square-foot office complex attached to the building’s Iron Avenue entrance will house the Empire Fluids Lab and 10 key service and support teams.
“This is an important new chapter in the 60-plus-year history of Empire Southwest,” said Jeff Whiteman, Empire President and CEO. “This significant investment will enable Empire to continue to provide excellent career opportunities for our product support team while providing world class support and solutions to our clients.”
"We appreciate Empire's long standing commitment to the Mesa community," Mayor Scott Smith said. "It is always good to see a company expand and bring new jobs to our city as we strive to create a healthy economy."
Empire Executive Vice President Chris Zaharis remarked, “Although we have locations in over twenty communities throughout Arizona, Southeastern California and Northern Mexico, we are proud to have our headquarters and over half of our workforce located in Mesa, Arizona. We appreciate the support that the City of Mesa, the staff and the elected officials have provided throughout the planning and permitting process.”
“Empire has long been one of the East Valley’s best corporate citizens,” Councilmember Dennis Kavanaugh said. “We are proud that they are headquartered in SW Mesa and very pleased at the new jobs which will be created by this expansion.”
“Empire has a long history of having the best technical workforce in the industry and providing the very best service, parts and product support solutions to our clients across many industries. These new facilities allow us to build on these strengths and provide our employees a world class facility from which to support our clients,” commented Jim Smith, Empire Executive Vice President.
