The Mesa Chamber of Commerce will start a new program to encourage members and residents to frequent the city’s restaurants affected by ongoing construction.

Starting July 23, the chamber will organize a “lunch mob” at Mesa restaurants along the light rail construction path to help compensate for the construction. The first event will be at Republic Empanada, located at 204 E. 1st Ave., between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

“Most of us eat lunch anyway, so why not use the time to network, relax and promote a local restaurant,” said chamber president and CEO Sally Harrison in a press release.
