East Valley bus driver strike underway; dozens of routes affected
Valley Metro Bus Driver Strike
Valley Metro bus drivers picket while on strike Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 in Mesa outside a bus operations and maintenance facility. The strike has shut down service to some 57,000 riders daily in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe, as well as express routes from those cities to Phoenix and Scottsdale. The strike is a result of a labor dispute between the Amalgamated Transit Union and First Transit, a company that operates part of Valley Metro's system. [Tim Hacker/ Tribune]
