One of two Mesa armed robbers head-butted one of their victims when they discovered their take would only be a couple of dollars.

The two victims, who apparently knew the robbers, told police that the men approached them in a parking lot of an apartment complex about 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of South Longmore. They said the men demanded money and valuables from their car minutes after they had a conversation with them.

One of the men pulled out a silver handgun, put a bullet in the chamber and demanded money, according to police.

After the robbers discovered their victims only had about two dollars between them, one of the men head-butted a robbery victim and threw the money back, according to police.
