The Mesa Counts on College initiative is asking the public for ideas on how to increase college completion rates for the city’s low-income youth, improving the low rates of college completion in the community. While Mesa high schools have high graduation rates, only 54 percent of the graduating class works toward a certificate or college program and only 23 percent of graduates get a degree or certificate.

Mesa Counts on College is asking for ideas to be submitted by June 22 at www.mesacountsoncollege.org.

Mesa Counts on College is a partnership between Mesa, Mesa Community College and the Mesa Unified School District. It is funded through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. For information, call (480) 644-4866.
