With the shelves of United Food Bank nearly empty, the bank is asking for the public’s help to refill it with donations.

In the past three months, the charity distributed a record 6 million pounds of food. While getting so much food into the right hands is a good sign, it also shows that there is much need, the group said.

You can donate over the phone or online at www.unitedfoodbank.org, or, mail a check to United Food Bank at 245 S. Nina Drive, Mesa, AZ 85210. Drop off food donations at the Mesa food bank, Gilbert fire stations and municipal buildings, or any Wal-Mart in the East Valley.

Go to www.unitedfoodbank.org to see a complete list of off-site food drive locations.
