Fire officials say a small helicopter made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon in a Mesa neighborhood.
A man in his 60s was the only occupant and managed to walk away uninjured, said Mesa fire spokesman Forrest Smith.
The hard landing happened just after 2 p.m. near Stapley Drive and Main Street.
The man was flying from Chandler to Falcon Field at the time, Smith said.
There were no explosions or fire hazards, he said.
Photos from the scene showed the small helicopter sitting along a sidewalk.

Why is he flying over a neighborhood and homes with an experimental helicopter that he home built?
