A Mesa water resources worker is facing an intentional act of terrorism charge after he allegedly turned off numerous operating systems at the city's wastewater treatment plant in Gilbert.

Court paperwork says 43-year-old Robert Olson also faces charges of criminal damage, tampering and criminal harassment. Police say it's not clear why Olson allegedly turned off the system.

The Maricopa County Superior Court set Olson's bond at $250,000. The Maricopa County Public Defender's Office said Monday Olson has not been assigned an attorney and he remains at the county jail.

Olson's next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
