Mesa officials hope to gather ideas for buildings, parks, programs and more from residents through a new app dubbed “This is My Mesa.” Through the app, people can provide ideas of what could be part of the city’s general, transportation or transit plan.

The free app can be downloaded onto a smartphone or tablet from either Google Play or the App Store. State law requires written procedures to include citizen involvement in the updating of a community’s general plan, which must be approved by voters every 10 years. The update is scheduled to be on the November 2014 ballot, according to a press release.

“‘This is My Mesa’ is based on the iMesa initiative, a grassroots effort to collect residents’ ideas for transformative projects in the city,” the release said. More information can be found at thisismymesa.org.

I don't care what people think of Mesa, what a great idea for the city to get residents input into what they what for their city, i have lived in west Mesa for over 16 years and never a victim of any crime, i am proud to say that i live in Mesa, it may not be the most exciting city but then again what valley city really is????, a good city trying to be forward thinking and meet the needs of the great people who live her.
