June 7, 2011: Columbia, MD—The National Association of Credit Management (NACM) has recognized Shera “Sheila” C. Roames, CCE of Mesa, Arizona, as the recipient of the 2011 CCE Designation of Excellence Award. Roames was honored at NACM’s 115th Annual Credit Congress and Exposition, held in Nashville, Tennessee, May 22–25.
Recipients of NACM’s Designation of Excellence Awards are dedicated to the credit profession, committed to improving themselves through higher education and enthusiastic about the difference they can make. For those who know Shera “Sheila” Roames, these qualities easily come to mind when considering this dynamic credit professional, ebullient volunteer leader and unwavering advocate.
Ms. Roames’ most visible service to the profession has taken place under the auspicious of NACM’s educational unit, the Credit and Financial Development Division (CFDD). On both the national and local levels Ms. Roames has been an outstanding and tireless contributor to the programming, administration and leadership of the organization. She is serving as the 2011-2012 CFDD National vice chairman, education and programs and chairman-elect. Ms. Roames previously completed a term as CFDD National vice chairman, member services and publicity, where she emphasized the need for a free-flow of communication among CFDD members. Ms. Roames was an integral part of establishing CFDD’s social media resources, including a highly anticipated LinkedIn group, and re-energized its more traditional bimonthly newsletter. As part of her local chapter, CFDD Phoenix, she has served in a number of different capacities including president and vice president.
In addition to her CFDD responsibilities, Ms. Roames has been a member of NACM of Arizona/Southwest Business Credit Services and previously chaired the affiliate’s education committee. She also chairs the concrete industry credit group, a position she has held since 2002. Ms. Roames is the western regional credit manager for Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions of Chandler, a subsidiary of Ergon, Inc. and pioneer of specialty asphalt products. Under her purview are all EAE accounts based in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah, which represent an accounts receivable portfolio of more than $50 million.
Ms. Roames has been involved in the credit field since 1990 and has primarily worked in the construction materials supply industry. She earned her Certified Credit Executive designation in 2006. One year earlier, in 2005, Ms. Roames was honored as NACM of Arizona’s Credit Manager of the Year.
