Motorists in the East Valley and beyond saw a slight increase in gas price this week, which puts them in a better position than drivers in many other states.
Triple A reports the cost to fill up the tank this Christmas increased approximately a half cent to $3.144 for Arizona residents. That jump though is markedly less than the 3.6-cent increase the national average underwent during the same stretch.
“Nationwide, prices are being tugged higher due to 85.8 million Americans taking road trips over the year-end holidays,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona, in a press release. “Though Arizona hasn’t been hit with a big increase, prices should settle once the holiday driving season ends.”
East Valley drivers paid an average of $3.101, which is an increase of a bit more than a cent from last week and more than 2 cents from November.
