The newly opened Benedictine University in Mesa started classes the day after Labor Day with a touch more than 90 students enrolled.

The Catholic college, which opened Sept. 3, has 93 students enrolled in its academic programs that include criminal justice, communications, psychology and theology.

“This is a proud moment for Benedictine University at Mesa,” said Kari Gibbons, vice president of enrollment services, in a press release. “We are excited to welcome this first class to the Benedictine family. Several are first-generation college students. We are confident that all of them will excel in Benedictine’s values-based, rigorous academic programs.”

Classes are held at Gillett Hall, which is located in downtown Mesa at 225. E. Main Street. Students interested in enrolling for the spring semester can visit ben.edu/mesa, email mesa@ben.edu or call (602) 888-5500.
