A time of legends and lore involving ghosts and unusual happenings in some of Mesa’s oldest downtown structures is nearing.

Tickets now are on sale for the Annual Ghost Tour and Walk hosted by the Mesa Historical Museum.

The ghost tour, which is a walking tour throughout downtown Mesa paired with tales of ghosts and spirits lingering in familiar buildings, will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 22. Tickets for the tour cost $12.

A separate tour involving the Arizona Paranormal Society’s Paranormal Investigations group will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 8 and 15 at the Mesa Historical Museum inside the former Lehi School Building. The cost for that tour is $25 per person.

The ghost tour in downtown Mesa will begin in front of the Arizona Museum of Natural History at 53 N. MacDonald, one block north of Main Street.

Using the latest technology and paranormal equipment, investigators will seek to capture and explain ghostly happenings in the early 20th century buildings, mostly built from 1913-37. Downtown business owners also will be on hand to tell of their haunting experiences while working in their shops or basements, which once led to a network of brick tunnels under the buildings.

The tour will include the former city jail in the basement of the Arizona Museum of Natural History and also provide a look at the brick tunnels below the buildings.

Spaces are limited, so people are encouraged to make early reservations.

Tickets can be ordered at or call (480) 835-7358.
