The Mesa Police Department is trying to identify suspects in recent arson incidents that occurred two days apart in Mesa.
According to a report released by the department, the first incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 10, when a suspect was seen taking a gas can out of a white Ford truck and pouring gasoline near telephone poles at Red Mountain Park, located at 7745 E. Brown Road. The suspect was seen leaving the park in a newer Ford Super Cab/Extended Cab with a soft white cover. The suspect is described as a 6-foot, 180 pound white man with brown hair between the ages of 20 and 30 years old.
The second set of incidents took place along the 6600 block of E. Redmont Drive in Mesa, where a suspect lit numerous fires at approximately 9:55 p.m. on July 8. Witnesses said a white man was seen in the area, although neither a description of a specific suspect nor a vehicle was obtained.
The report indicates several dumpster fires have been reported of late, but the police have not confirmed a relationship between any of the arson interests.
