Residents of Mesa’s District 3 can learn more about the Building Strong Neighborhoods Initiative during an orientation 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at Roosevelt Elementary School, 828 S. Valencia St.

District 3 is in the neighborhood located from Dobson Road to the Tempe border and from West Eighth Street to Broadway Road.

"The goal of Building Strong Neighborhoods is to get neighborhood residents involved in issues that directly affect them," District 3 Councilman Dennis Kavanaugh said.

During the Dec. 4 program, residents will hear results of a neighborhood survey and then be asked to prioritize issues to be addressed by city services.

According to a release, "The City of Mesa Building Strong Neighborhoods Initiative was introduced in the fall of 2006 to provide education and resources to one selected neighborhood in each Council District once per year."

For more information, contact District 3 Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator Cynthia Ezcurra-Garza at (480) 644-5889 or cynthia.ezcurra-garza@mesaaz.gov.
