Boy Scouts looking to earn merit badges in fingerprinting and crime prevention can attend a free workshop hosted by Mesa Police and Councilman Dave Richins. The workshop is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Central District station, 120 N. Robson.

The workshop will demonstrate fingerprinting techniques used by law enforcement officers and dental record matching and DNA sampling that is used to identify amnesia victims, missing persons and abducted children. The session will also cover keeping families safe from crime. To attend the event, participants must pre-register and complete a workbook, which is available at mesaaz.gov/council/richins/default.aspx. For more information, call (480) 644-5296 or email at Katie.brown@mesaaz.gov.
