The City of Mesa is currently accepting applications from District 5 residents interested in completing the final 16 months of Dina Higgins term.
Any person who has lived in the district for at least two years is eligible to serve out the rest of Higgins term, which ends January 2015. Higgins resigned from the council effective Aug. 15, citing the demands of her full-time job as a business development manager and the weekly travel as her reasons.
Applications are accepted until Aug. 22 at 5 p.m., and the council will hold interviews with the finalists at the Sept. 5 meeting. A vote on the appointment is expected to occur at the council’s Sept. 12 study session.
Applications are available online at mesaaz.gov/council/application.aspx and have to be submitted online; the city will not accept hard copies.
