Mesa is holding a kickoff meeting Thursday for a Building Strong Neighborhoods Initiative that encompasses an area near Lindsay Road and Pueblo Avenue. Residents will meet with city staff and Councilman Alex Finter, who will discuss results of a neighborhood survey. The results will be used to prioritize issues to be addressed by city services, including neighborhood outreach, code compliance, public safety, animal control, transportation, parks and more. The area covered includes the Meadowgreen neighborhood.

The initiative includes several outreach projects, including a Saturday neighborhood cleanup, a Sept. 24 Eagle Scout project to paint curb numbers and an Oct. 22 house painting. The initiative was introduced in 2006 to provide education and resources to one select neighborhood in each council district per year.

Thursday’s meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Junior High School, 705 S. 32nd St. For more information, call (480) 644-5432.
