Antonio Ortega was asked to watch over his neighbor’s house in Mesa while he was out of town, but never expected it would turn out like this.
He says everything happened so fast, he didn’t have time to be scared.
Ortega’s first clue was seeing a QT cup appear on his neighbor’s front porch, even though he knew he wasn’t home. He then saw the door lock had been busted open.
Then he saw a man – who we now know as Chad Bogle – peer through the blinds of his neighbor’s house, and show his gun.
At that point, he called 911, and the operator told him to go back to his own home and wait. For the next two hours, that’s what he did; watching through the window as the SWAT officers and a K9 named “Jake," got to work.
Ortega says overall, he feels sadness that a man had to lose his life.
As for the K9 officer, Jake is out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery.
