Mesa District 5 Councilwoman Dina Higgins has been appointed as vice chair of the National League of Cities’ Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Committee for 2013, according to a news release.
Higgins will be serving her fourth term on the EENR Committee, which is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy, national wetlands, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management, the release said.
“This leadership position will allow me to present Arizona’s cutting edge water management policies on a national level,” Higgins said. “Arizona has developed some of the most sustainable water practices in the entire country and I look forward to sharing these ideas with elected officials from across the United States.”
