Unofficial election results have voters approving the City of Mesa's request for more than $130 million in bonds.

With all 27 of the city's precincts reporting, the tallies indicate both bond items, valued at a total of $130.8 million, passing by at least 55 percent of the vote. The projects the bonds will support range from building a new communications center for public safety and purchasing a new helicopter to infrastructure projects across the city.

This is the first time residents have voted on bonds for public safety and infrastructure projects since 2008; in 2012, voters approved $70 million in funding for parks, open space and aquatic facility projects.
