As par tof its 2011-12 School Cents program, Superstition Springs Center in Mesa donated $11,250 to 14 local schools.

Each school earned a prize of $250 to $2,500, awarded in the form of American Express gift cards. The schools will use money to purchase classroom supplies, sports equipment, cameras, books and more.

During the School Cents program, which began Sept. 1 and ran through April 15, customers were encouraged to bring receipts from any business at Superstition Springs Center to the shopping center’s Guest Services. They then selected a school to receive points.

Mesa’s Irving Elementary was the top point getter and received a $2,500 donation, with Mesa Academy for Advanced Studies coming in second and receiving a $2,000 prize.
