An upcoming event at the Phoenix Marriot Mesa Convention Center will have community members build boxes for people who have suffered a similar loss.

The “Remembrance Box Making” event will have people who have lost a baby — it can be a son, daughter, grandchild, niece, nephew or friend — create a memory box in their honor. The box will then go to a family that has experienced a similar loss, and the box will have the name of the sponsor underneath.

The cost to participate is $25 per person — the price compensates for the cost of a box — and participants have to prepay on the organizations website and leave the name of the baby they will honor on the page’s comment section. People who can’t attend will have a box made on their behalf by the organization, Lanee’s Legacy, holding the event.

The event is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at the convention center, located at 200 N. Centennial Way in Mesa. More information is available by visiting laneeslegacy.blogspot.com/.
