The camping gear Mesa’s Boy Scout Troop 152 has collected for more than 20 years is gone.
A troop leader called police Wednesday after discovering a trailer full of tents, coolers, cook stoves, chuck boxes and other items had vanished from behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1455 N. Harris Drive.
The troop planned to use the equipment at Scout-ORama and the Grand Canyon Council District Camporee, both in November.
Whoever took the trailer apparently towed it away, leader Lester Pearce said. He estimated the cost of the trailer and gear at about $7,000. None of it was insured.
Padlocks on the doors of two other trailers had been cut, Pearce said. He was unsure if anything had been taken from those.
