This whole situation is typical of Arizona's priorities; more money and time have been wasted on this tacky sign - in front of a dumpy motel - than deserves to be. What a joke!
My comment wasn't a "whine," downttownresident....merely an observation. Since you are a "downtowner," I'm sure you can't wait for Mesa's next big boondoggle: the "town square."
This piece, the Diving Lady, has become an icon of Mesa art. The piece needs to be preserved. I'd recommend that it be mounted at, on, or near the Mesa fine arts center and turned on for viewing, full dive. It represents a period of time in Mesa that will never return.
...tacky sign.." Oh my. I am a native of AZ and I have watched so much destroyed in the name of progress and growth. Save us all from people who believe history is "tacky." I applaud all who have contributed to saving our Diving Lady!

Vic from the "Mesa Preservation Foundation" needs to quit sucking the cash out of this project and put the Lady back up. Over $100,000 raised to restore and put her back up? Where did the money go Vic? I'd love to see Mesa Preservation Foundations checkbook and see how many checks are made out to Vic.

desertan ,
Quit whining. This is not an "Arizona" issue. None of the money came out of your tight pockets.[sad]

I'm dying to see the sign restored.
